Every now and again, I stumble upon a restaurant or bar that I've somehow managed to previously overlook. The Point falls into this category. I generally have a beverage in the clubhouse after I play Patriot's Point, which, by the way, is amazing, but I recently had the pleasure of trying out The Point. Located beside the Shriner's Temple on the way to (or from) Patriot's Point Golf Links, this place has everything I expect in a bar. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, I invited my wife and a few friends out to check it out on Saturday night. There was a great band, "GoodStache" playing, and they were on it! The food was great, and the staff was professional and friendly. Jacob, the manager, and Cameron, the beerslinger, are gracious hosts who know their trade. I generally don't use this forum to give free plugs, but I always spread the word when I have a good experience at any business. The title of this post is a link to their website. Check 'em out.

Adam McNab scores a double eagle!!

With a strong headwind and cars buzzing by on Maybank highway, Adam McNab accomplished a feat that is statistically superior to a hole in one. He scored a double eagle. A hole in one is two under par for the hole, while a double eagle is 3 under. On number 10 at Charleston Municipal, Adam muscled his drive over 300 yards down the left side of the fairway. Even though Adam regularly beats our rag-tag crew of hackers, I still couldn't believe he was going for the green from the left side. I knew he wasn't gonna play it safe when I saw him pull out his 3 wood. He shaped the shot around the treeline, landing a foot from the cup, with a backspin that finished the job. No one could make that shot. But Adam did. We all did a victory dance for about 5 minutes after he removed the ball from the cup. (sorry to the foursome behind us...) Hal, Jon, Adam and myself signed the score card as witnesses, and I am going to send it in to the Post and Courier for a write up. Adam, you are a legend.

Brooks and Phil
James McGavick,
Muni Legend

Good Morning Golfers!
Yesterday I played Charleston Municipal, aka The Muni, with my friend James. Due to slow play ahead of us, we met the twosome playing behind us on the tee box of #5. We asked if they wanted to join us. They did, and it turned out to be a great round, scorecard notwithstanding. Brooks is a rising senior at the Citadel, and Phil is waiting for his ring, which should arrive any day now. Congrats Phil! It was a treat to play with these guys, even if Phil's drive is 50 yards longer than mine. Brooks kept pulling off impossible greeen-side shots that drew hoots and hollers and high fives from all of us. James, of course, kept the heat on with his putter, closing the gap I built on the front nine to beat me by a few strokes. Thanks for a great game, guys--Chuck

My Circle
I am a fortunate son. Not the kind Creedence Clearwater Revival sang about, but the kind whose mother's birthday is within weeks of mother's day. I forget everybody else's birthday, except my niece's and my mom's-- (My niece's birthday cozys up to Christmas)
I know, I just posted a birthday blog for mom, but I'm back to wish her a happy mother's day. ----Mom, as when I was a little boy, I live everyday with your courageous outlook. --- This is the part of the blog where the male readers are calling me Forrest Gump, and the female readers are all like, awww, he's so sweet. Oh well, a polarized audience is still an audience, right...anyway, much love from the coast!--Chuck

Manage the course
This may seem like a random post, but if you bear with me for a few lines, you may find wisdom in my cyber-ink. The norm would require I sleep at this hour, but upon returning from the bachelor party of a good friend, I think a little post revelry ramblin' is in order. Bryan, good luck my friend--you have chosen well and will live well with your chosen, mi amigo. Remember to put the seat down. Don't say anything you can't take back. Treat her with respect. Protect her, and above all, rock her world on your honeymoon! CMG
